Fallow Fields Camping is run by Lex who (from many, many, camping trips) knows how a great campsite with the right vibe can really make for a memorable camping trip alongside farmer David from Selson farm.
Based on David’s stunning fruit farm 2 miles from the beautiful inlet town of Sandwich, Kent; Four acres of fallow land nestled between cherry, pear and apple trees, makes for a great backdrop to enjoy the big skies and amazing sunsets this part of Kent has to offer.
Bring your own tent, or luxuriate in one of our ten furnished bell tents. Or if you fancy something a bit different, there's also Beryl the retro caravan available to hire.
We aim to provide the best camping experience possible; real fires, communal mess area and camp shop, local food on weekend evenings and, right at the top of the ‘essentials list’, clean facilities.
Fruit orchards disappear into fields that meet the sky…. We think we’ve found a stunner here, a perfect campsite, secluded but not far away from a local pub, shop, butchers and bakery in Eastry. And only 2 miles from the beautiful inlet town of Sandwich and Sandwich Bay…
We have 50 bring your own tent pitches, 10 bell tents with everything already set up for your arrival and Beryl our beautiful vintage caravan.
About the farm
Selson Farm sits in a gentle valley on the eastern edge of the North Downs in Kent. You’re surrounded by apple, pear and cherry orchards, there’s also asparagus fields a plenty. The camping field itself is a good 4 acres, completely flat, and lined with trees for shelter.
David (an ex-army Major) runs the farm which was bought by his Grandfather in the 1920’s who became a renowned English fruit grower. With a spread of crops there is something being harvested most of the summer. In May you can pick fresh asparagus, and there’s early apples in August. All of the produce is sold locally, either at the farm gate or in farm shops and greengrocers, pears and apples also end up in the big supermarkets.
We are based on 5 acres of fallow farmland on the edge of an asparagus and fruit farm in the beautiful Kentish countryside and just 15 minutes drive from the closest beach; Sandwich Bay or a short walk to the closest village; Eastry with a good pub The Five Bells.
We have 50 grass pitches available for you to bring your own tent or small campervan (sorry no motorhomes or caravans allowed). We can accommodate groups camping together, please just let us know if you are a group on booking in the notes. All pitches are a short walk from lovely clean showers, toilets and washing up stations with hot running water.
Campfires and BBQs are allowed (in fact we practically insist!), but must be kept off the ground in a fire pit. Firepits can be hired from us for £6 per night and wood is available in the campsite shop from £6 per trug.
Dogs are allowed on tent pitches, but must be kept on a lead at all times.
