The Quiet Site opened its doors to campers and caravanners way back in 1963. Occupying a magnificent position overlooking Ullswater it very soon became a firm favourite and today we are welcoming back 3rd generation campers from the same families. The year we opened had one of the coldest winters on record. All the Lakeland lakes froze and ice skating was the order of the day.
Caravans and motorhomes have hard standing pitches, some of which are tarmac, some gravelled and some have a stone base where grass has been allowed to grow through.
There are two fields for touring caravans. The smaller field accommodates both tourer and static caravans. This field is closer to the service building and is perhaps the Quietest! The larger field accommodates Caravans, Motorhomes, Tents and Camping PODs. This field is situated on the lower slopes of Little Mell Fell. The higher up this field you pitch, the better the views, but the further away you are from the services!
Pitches are generally reserved in advance, especially at busy times.
Group bookings of up to two families/couples are only accepted after contacting the office. We reserve the right to decline a booking or charge a noise deposit.
The Quiet Site is a family run campsite situated in a secluded position amongst the stunning fells that overlook Lake Ullswater. This is a superbly maintained and very picturesque site, the facilities being housed mainly in old converted farm buildings. There are many beautiful walks that you can start from right outside the Quiet Site and numerous activities and attractions a very short drive away.
The Quiet Site is in an ideal position for touring both the North and South Lakes by car. We are easily accessible from the M6 motorway – Junction 40 and the charming market town of Penrith, both of which are only 7 miles away.
