Dolgamedd is a quiet, laid-back, family run caravan and camping site on the banks of the river Wnion, in Snowdonia National Park. We are surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers and the coast is only 11 miles away. Campers come back year after year and we’ve had rave reviews.
Do not expect a swimming pool, bar or shop. We prefer to keep things natural – the river is not heated, but it’s great fun, and we believe in supporting the local economy, so please do your shopping at the lovely shops in Dolgellau (the best meat for your barbecues is at the small butchers shop in the square, by the way).
The site is perfect for those who want to relax, enjoy nature at its best and take part in the many outdoor activities available in the area. If you just want to party all night, please look for a more suitable campsite. Well behaved groups are welcome here, by pre-arrangement only. We welcome Duke of Edinburgh Award Groups.
We are a dog-friendly campsite. Dogs (but no dangerous breeds) are allowed on leads.
Campfires are allowed by the river and we have picnic tables dotted around the site.
We have modern, clean facilities which include free hot showers, toilets (including a spacious disabled toilet/shower room) laundry room and campers kitchen with TV for wet days.
We have fishing rights on part ot the river: 2 rods only at any one time, and by prior arrangement only.
There are plenty of walks from the campsite, as well as the beautiful Torrent Walk 2 miles up the road. We also recommend Llwybr Cynwch/Precipice Walk 3 miles away. For the fit, Cader Idris (893m) is a gem. Superb mountain biking available at Coed y Brenin (you can cycle there via quiet lanes if you’re really fit). Safe family cycling along the old railway track to Barmouth. Watersports at Llyn Tegid, Bala (15 miles away) and beautiful beaches all along the coast.
